Em Prof Jens Blauert is an Emeritus Professor at Ruhr-Universitat Bochum where he founded the Institute of Communication Acoustics (IKA) and headed it until 2003. He served as the co-founder and co-chairman of the European Acoustics Association (EAA). He is currently a distinguished visiting professor of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY. Professor Blauert is a fellow of the IEEE, ASA, IoA, and AES and was awarded the AES gold medal, award of the European Acoustics Association, and silver medal of the Acoustical Society of America. Professor Blauert will give the keynote lecture of the summer school on spatial audio systems for games and virtual environments, as well as another lecture about new developments in the area.
